Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding the piano in her attic, then becoming enthralled by the sounds it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to play music only to have fun or to aid in growing, but that she must explore it. They advised her to compose. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with a love for Bjork's style. To counter her mother's advice that her children should not be aiming to be famous through the songs she writes, but rather be aware of the significance of them and the impact they have on society. When she was six she started playing the piano and at nine began writing her own songs. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known by her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora had no idea of being famous. Her only passion is to compose music. According to her music, is the best way to express anything.
